The Problem
When mechanical seals are used in the pump industry it would be an advantage of course if the seals always worked with a clean medium. Unfortunately, very few pumped media are clean. Solid matter, sludge, crystals and similar contamination can get between the sealing faces and wear them down quickly or even destroy them. This must be prevented. The Solution With its development of a special hydraulic sealing material and forming method, DEPAC has laid the basis for a unique solution: the DEPAC DGS 6mp base bushing made of DEPAC Super Polymer. With this base bushing you can prolong the working life of the mechanical seals in your pumps! Does your pump medium accept a minimum flush of approx. 4-8 liters per hour? If the answer is yes, the following would be possible: The DEPAC base bushing is simply inserted down to the bottom of the stuffing box. The two nubs on the outer diameter then secure the ring in place. When the pump is not running the lip is pressed by the higher pressure of the pump medium against the shaft. The seal chamber is reliably isolated from the pumped medium. When the pump is running the flexible sealing lip is lifted off the shaft to a microscopic degree by the higher pressure of the flushing medium. The flushing rate can thus be controlled by a flow meter to 4 - 8 liters per hour. The life of the mechanical seal is maximized. |

Installation Example

- Works in conjunction with minimum flushing to keep the mechanical seal chamber clean
- Enables the sealing off of critical media such as sludge, clay, pulp, waste water, sewage sludge, syrup, molasses, etc.
- No contact between the lip and the shaft during operation
- Reliable sealing between the lip and the shaft when at a standstill
- Seal with sealing action against the clean flushing medium
- Very little flushing medium required, can be controlled with a flow meter
- Super Polymer does not harden
